Following the redesign of Christianity magazine’s identity, we also undertook a complete overhaul of the magazine’s look and feel, and we’re regularly commissioned to design or illustrate key articles.
When designing for articles we are free to let our imagination run wild, often creating lavish illustrations or emotive theological concepts. The illustration featured above is entitled ‘Is Stuff Killing Your Soul?’ and is about the pursuit of material possessions consuming our hearts and minds.
For the magazine redesign, great attention was given to detail, typography and legibility. The typefaces used are a mixture of Sabon and Helvetica which echo the brief – modern yet conservative, with an air or authority. Our client probably best explains the resulting effect our work had on the magazine:
“In a climate where print magazine circulations are rapidly declining, Christianity magazine has held steady. This is, I believe, largely down to a fresh, contemporary design which supports its content.”
