CCP commissioned us to redesign, rebrand and art direct a comprehensive modernisation of their magazine, Christianity. The new design required an authoritative voice, balancing contemporary and traditional values to engage a new younger audience whilst not alienating their existing older subscribers.
We greatly enhanced the clarity and brand impact by creating a new identity, and setting it in a spacious exclusion zone at the top of the magazine cover. The logo was displayed in clear black and white, and used a modern take on an original typeface to blend old and new.
Alongside the rebranding we also supplied a branding toolkit, containing conceptualised stationary designs, an icon set and style guide to use throughout the magazine.
We worked alongside the internal design team at CCP through workshops, making joint stylistic decisions to ensure the new direction was fully bought into and could be used to maximum effect after project completion.
“As well as producing beautiful, bespoke feature designs for us for a number of years, Base Creative led a full scale redesign of Christianity magazine. They listened to and clearly understood our brand values, and produced a logo and style guide which perfectly reflected them.
The totally transformed magazine had an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the readers.”
