Becca’s Hype: My Favourite Updates of 2017!
To celebrate the end of the year, I thought I’d pick out some of my favourite, most notable changes to social media platforms this year, as well as making a prediction or two about what might happen next year. Ready?
Over the last month or so I’ve been delving into AR and what it means exactly. I’ve discovered what’s on the market at the moment and how AR is slowly but surely seeping its way into our everyday lives.
Goodness gracious me, it is December everyone. I repeat, it’s DECEMBER. With Christmas fast approaching I’m pleased to let you know that there’s going to be a special festive edition of Becca’s Hype coming up soon. It’s going to be grand. For now though, let’s see what’s been happening in the last week on social media…
Becca’s Hype: Changes on Twitter, an update for bloggers, and a Snapchat rumour
After a stressful morning frantically refreshing half a dozen tabs to get BrightonSEO tickets, I’m pleased to say that eventually, we got some! Hopefully you did do, April’s conference is going to be a good one, trust me, I know it.
For this week’s hype I’ll be looking at Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Yep, Snapchat are still battling away for social media success.

Shadowbanning is sweeping across our favourite social networks as we speak without many of us batting an eyelid. With most people unaware this is even a ‘thing’, I’ve been looking into how you can discover if you’re being shadowbanned, and what you can do about it.
In the office, for about the last week or so, we’ve been Snapchatting each other. Much to my amusement. Unlike everyone else, I’m already an avid Snapchatter. I’ve been using Snapchat since at least 2013, so I’ve watched it grow and adapt since they introduced Stories. Pretty much everyone at work has only just started using it though.
With 2017 now in full swing, we wanted to write some predictions about what we think might happen this year. In 2016, voice search began to really take off, everybody copied Snapchat, and Facebook presented us with more fake news than we knew what to do with. Let’s hope this year isn’t full of more of the same!
